Richard Hurtado: Just got the guide today. Thank you for the awesome information that you have chosen to share. I look forward to using the techniques that you show and to creating pieces of photographic art. Again, AWESOME STUFF!!! I wish you all the best. Richard Hurtado

Last week Cody and I both made the trek to Nashville, TN for the PPA’s National Convention – ImagingUSA and Digital Wedding Forum’s (DWF) Convention to mentor a great young photographer.  While there Cody and Mike both spoke at the Miller’s Lab Booth and Dury’s Booth as well as Cody received his Craftsman Degree from the PPA and Mike had the honor of being appointed onto the National Education Committee for ImagingUSA 2011 held in San Antonio Texas.

The DWF convention, as always, was an amazing time, seeing old friends, making new ones and of course watching TriCoast’s good friend Jerry G. sing on stage with the B.B. King band.  The education at this convention was top notch and it seems after talking to several people they got more than their money’s worth.

ImagingUSA had to be the very best Convention of the five TriCoast has been at, with people packing the tradeshow floor, education classes and of course Parties in the evening it will be hard to top another convention afterwards.  I would like to also thank you to Joan Sherwood and the entire PPA Staff and Volunteers.  There was so many volunteers which made ImagingUSA possible, I know many helped me directly so thank you everyone for your hard work – it really paid off on so many levels.

A Photograph taken by Joan Sherwood of the PPA Magainze of Cody and Mike speaking at the dury’s booth during the convention.  An amazing amount of people stopped to listen, truly Cody and Mike were shocked and surprised by the turn out.

Thank you again for everyone who stopped by and said hello, listened, enjoyed and shared with TriCoast during these events.

Up next – SYNC SENIORS in Florida then on to MI and VA PPA State Conventions then WPPI in March.  See you hopefully down the road.  As always for the latest on what Cody and Mike or any of the TriCoast team is doing check out their workshop site at:  www.TriCoastWorkshops.com.

This past week Mike and Cody had the honor of speaking/teaching in Mystic, CT with truly the greatest line up of wedding photographers they have ever had the chance to share the stage with.

Jerry Ghionis     -     Joe McNally     -     David Williams     -     John Michael Cooper (AltF)     -     Dave and Quin Cheung     -     Andy Marcus     -     Greg Gibson     -      Michelle Turner and Stacey Doyle     -     George Weir     -     Jason Groupp     -    Storey Wilkins     -     Jerome Braga – Studio 1923

With a packed house, Mike and Cody had a blast sharing some tips and tricks on TTL wireless flash off camera lighting as well as other goodies.

Thank you everyone for the great time – great sharing – great learning – and great new friends at Mystic5.  Looking forward to hanging out again and having fun with everyone!

Jerome Braga: Way to go guys! ! What an awesome presentation.

Amna Hakim: You guys were amazing! thanks for sharing your wealth of information! you guys had to be one of my favs for the day. thanks again!

We this coming week Mike and Cody will be heading to Nashville to take part of the PPA’s National Covention – ImagingUSA.  Along with hanging out and speaking at our friends booths (Miller’s LabRadioPopperDury’s – and Collages.net ) we will be taking part in several other important events for TriCoast.

On Monday afternoon – Mike will be taking part in a National Committee of the PPA on education.  Assisting in who will be speaking and teaching the future of photographers at ImagingUSA-2011, being selected by the National PPA Board to be on this committee this is truly one of the greatest honors Mike has ever been a part of.  One of Cody’s and Mike’s greatest inspirations in life is watching other photographers grow and finding their passions and dreams in this amazing art form of photography.  Having the honor of assisting other photographer is how Cody and Mike push each other to become better photographers but more important better people.

On Tuesday evening – Cody will be receiving his Craftsman degree from the PPA.  An award given to educators within the Professional Photography world – Cody will join only a handfull of other PPA members in reaching this goal.

So thank you all who have supported us and helped us to where we are today, we simply could not be here without you.  Finally, if you are going to ImagingUSA this coming week please look us up on the tradeshow floor and say hello, if you have time please sit down and hang for a while.  Talking on the tradeshow floor is truly one of the more difficult things to do, so empty chairs make it worse :)

Our Tradeshow floor Schedule:

2:00pm – 2:30pm at the Dury’s Booth #714

Monday – Jan. 11th

11:30am – 12:30pm – Miller’s Professional Imaging Booth #315

1:00pm – 1:45pm – Dury’s Booth #714

Tuesday – Jan. 12th

9:30am – 10:30am – Miller’s Professional Imaging Booth #315

One of my earliest “goals” in this amazing art form was to one day be on PhotoVision Videos.  Truly an amazing set of artists, sharing, learning, teaching all to better the profession of photography.  This past Fall we had the honor of being on PhotoVision for the 2010 season.  Cody and I met the PhotoVision Crew in Austin and for the most part shot an engagement and bridal session live in front of the camera.  Not even knowing where we were going, how we were going to shoot, or what we would find along the way we took our clients down the streets of Austin and around the town and captured images using TTL Wireless flash.  No big lights – No big softboxes – No big battery packs, just simple Canon Flash Speedlites, tiny little battery packs and simple mono pods.

Alan B: Congrats Guys! That preview looks fantastic! Can't wait to see the full video. Also..please come to the DC area with your workshop!

Bob Miller: My copy of PhotoVision Disk 80 was delivered today. I thought your session was more than worth the annual subscription price, so the rest of the year will be icing. Thanks for the running commentary on what you were doing, the explanation of what's going on with wireless flash, and the tip on RadioPoppers. I went to the RadioPoppers web site, and noticed your book, but for that price, I want to know AT LEAST how many pages it has, which they didn't say (which is why I'm here). BTW, you kept your New Year's resolution (below) for almost a month!

Happy New Year Everyone!

January 1, 2010

Well the new year is upon us and one of my New Year Resolutions is to UPDATE THIS DANG BLOG MORE :)

I am sorry for not doing so in the last half of 2009, with so much going on personally and professionally I simply lost track.  Good news that is about to change, we are making changes here behind the scenes to have this blog updated on a regular basis as well as other “online connections” with the world.

Also on the Guide we received a shipment yesterday and are in the process of getting the backorders filled up, once again I can not say how sorry I am for the huge delays.

So I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful New Years Eve and I hope EVERYONE has a safe and wonderful New Year making everything you want and work for a reality.

Hope to see some of you all at some of our speaking/teaching events coming up in the first quarter of 2010 (and we have a TON of them) so check out our workshop website at www.TriCoastWorkshops.com or join the other 6000 + photographers and sign up for our FREE newsletter at www.TriCoastStormWatch.com to keep up with where we will be and what we will be doing at each event.

Thank you for all your support it truly means the world to me personally and all of the TriCoast Photography Members.

Troy Schneider: Happy New Year to y'all as well. A bit of feedback regarding your posts... you write them in first person, but nowhere within the post display does it indicate who you are (Mike? Cody? Suzy?). It would be worth updating the theme to include the author of the post (and if you don't already have different author accounts setup go ahead and do that too). I hope 2010 is a prosperous year for y'all. T.
