February 18, 2009A Three Day HANDS ON workshop with TriCoast Photographers
Set as a “Think Tank” classroom, TriCoast ENCOURAGES the students to ask questions throughout the learning day on any subject covered or not covered. This is truly the students time to learn. NO SECRETS are held back. Because the workshop is limited to only a few students, this will be one of the best experience for hands-on learning experience.
DAY #1
Starting the day off in the afternoon, spending the first hour or two inside the “classroom”, TriCoast will go over the basics of the Canon and Nikon flash units* and the shooting techniques along with certain camera settings which allow you to capture beautiful portraits outside in any kind of lighting. Once this is understood by the student, the entire class heads outside where TriCoast will continue the education with hands on learning. Using live models watch and learn how to use your eTTL or iTTL wireless flash properly, from single flash unit to multi flash units. Once comfortable standing on the sidelines the students will actually photograph using these newly learned techniques throughout the evening with the models. Spliting up into smaller groups each with a live model, you will have the best one on one, hands on learning experience. After taking a break for dinner, everyone goes back outside in the dark to learn how to use your wireless flash and many versions of video lights and alternative light sources throughout the shooting location.
DAY #2
Another full day of class. We start off the day by reinforcing what was learned the previous day by going outside and shooting again and answering any questions that you could have thought of after a good night sleep. After learning the in’s and out’s of the wireless TTL, we will demonstrate how to overcome the limitations of the portable units. We will also go back and explore lighting patterns and style that put TriCoast on the map. For the second part of the day, we will discuss TriCoast’s marketing strategies and branding techniques.
DAY #3
The last day involves TriCoast’s workflow as well as backup strategy, which is often overlooked in the world of photography. As the day progress, we will show you how our workflow solution leads into our post processing and final image output utilizing Adobe Photoshop CS3, Lightroom and Adobe Bridge. TriCoast will show you the shortcuts, tips and tricks to come up the with final solution to add on to your style of processing. The portion of the class will end with an “Inspiration” presentation. This is what influences TriCoast to become who we are today, and why we keep doing what we do.
Remember, this is NOT a seminar. This will be a HANDS ON workshop. YOUR WORKSHOP.
* TriCoast photographers primarily utilize both Canon and Nikon units. This does not mean the skills learned from this workshop could not be applied to other popular systems such as Sony/Minolta, Sigma, Pentax and newer Fuji units.
Private One Day HANDS ON workshop with one TriCoast instructor
The one on on workshop is for those that prefer a more personal approach. Typically the private workshop is tailored specifically for wireless off camera flash and video light.
We would recommend starting around 11am, going over hardware questions and setup for your flash and camera. Break around noon for lunch, before we get a model and shoot til your hearts content. We will take a break around 5 pm for dinner and go over processing the images that you shot that day. After that, it should be dark enough to where we could go over night time flash and if you’re interested, video light on location. We’ll stop just before your brain overloads.
Private One-on-One Workshops with one of TriCoast Artists: $1500.00 plus travel expenses.
