TriCoast is proud to announce our brand new Guide to TTL Wireless Flash Photography.

Our goal with this publication, is to give you, the photographer, a no nonsense approach to TTL wireless flash photography. By laying out simple yet effective tips and tricks which TriCoast Photography has learned over years of experience and trial and error, we we hope to narrow the learning process into weeks instead of years. Allowing you the freedom to create your art whenever and wherever you like. This powerful tool, used correctly, can help to add a new dimension to your photographic style and set you apart from others. With a “No Secret” approach to our teaching, the sharing of ideas has been a key factor in the growth and success of TriCoast.

This guide is not here to teach you everything that your Speedlite will do, if you’re interested in that we highly recommend you read your manual. What we are here to do is explain a bit about your Canon and Nikon Speedlites, a system which we use on a daily basis to create our portraits using the TriCoast method of wireless TTL flash. As mainly Canon photographers, this book is based highly on our personal experience in the Canon realm, however the techniques and method taught on in this guide work the same for Nikon, Olympus, and Sony users as well.

This is straight forward information without all the geeky add-on’s which can confuse us all in the long run. We truly hope the information you find in this guide will allow you to grow and share your knowledge with other photographers who truly care about this amazing art form.

This is our workshop on paper, truly my passion in writing with every step for you to learn. NO SECRETS EDUCATION. I truly hope it helps out someone wanting to learn more about their flash and TTL off camera flash photography.

lisa doan: I am trying to purchase your guide but I am not getting a link. Hmm. I am still trying. I saw this on Pro4UM. Lisa

Dominoe Imus: That is such a great idea for a book, if only you had written it three years ago... :)

Mike: Right Mike! Honestly writing is very hard for me personally, I am very dyslexic so while the words come easy the grammar and getting them on paper correctly for everyone to understand is harder. So writing this guide was sort of like facing one of my biggest struggles in life. The thoughts were all in my head and I needed to get them on paper before I forgot them so we can help out other photographers wanting to learn TTL wireless flash methods. It might not be a catch-all solution as it is for TriCoast, but I feel knowing TTL is like needing to know how to swim or drive a standard vehicle, it is something every photographer should know to be a true professional. So thank for the nice words Michael coming from you it means a lot. Your work is simply STUNNING!

Billie: What brand of Eterenal Flash Pack for Nikon do you recommend? What about Opteka?

Mike: BILLIE - I suggest to use the Nikon Based external flash pack. I have found the same brand battery packs are less expensive and work very good in the process. For us we use the Canon CP-E4 packs with our Canon flash units due to this. Hope it helps.

Joel Llacar: Hey Mike. I pre-purchased your TTL Guide. I CANT wait to get it! Any idea when they will ship out? Thanks for sharing this!

Mike: THE GUIDE HAS STARTED SHIPPING, we have a TON of orders, which I am surprised and humbled by - but again THE GUIDES HAVE STARTED SHIPPING and we are sending them out as soon and as fast as we are getting them in.

Steve Benton: Hey guys, Ordered 9-3-09 Need to receive my copy by the end of the week "9-25-09", if no can do - please cancel the order and refund my paypal account. Thanks! BTW - Let me/us know when you are out of stock - just out of "professional" consideration ;-) Thanks again! Steve

Callum Keith Rennie Interview: Does your blog have a contact page? I'm having problems locating it but, I'd like to shoot you an email. I've got some suggestions for your blog you might be interested in hearing. Either way, great website and I look forward to seeing it improve over time.

Private 1 on 1 workshop

March 9, 2009

A few weeks ago I had a 1 on 1 workshop with Angi Caples of Studio 3C in Monroe, LA.  Angi, already an awesome photographer, was looking to add a bit more wireless flash into her arsenal.  She picked it up quick and within an hour, she’s off shooting some great images on her own.  To see some more of her images, check out her blog at http://studio3cphotography.blogspot.com

Angi: Hey Jordan! Thanks so much for the kind words! I had an awesome time with you and our model Alanah. This workshop was the best thing that I could have done with my business and I recommend it to anyone that wants to take their flash to the next level! Thanks again Jordan!!! Angi

Alanah

What happens when you get a model for a workshop that knows a bit more about a camera than what she lets on?  How about a random surprise image in your cf card :)

Here’s a shot of her during a lighting demo.

curtoneil: Does that say loser or lover. That middle letter is tricky. If lover, well played ;) Although looking at the previous s - not so well played.

Jordan: Sadly, I think it's Loser as well. LOL!

Alanah: I definately wrote LOSER.... =] bahahha look at my miget thumb... <3 ALANAH

elissa: way to go alanah! bahaha.

Angi: I would bet it's "S" based on how rotten you were that day, lol

Jordan: You do have a midget thumb! LOL!

female: nice...

Yep. That’s what I said. Dirty Water Dog.
