Times Square, Kodak and TriCoast – a Beautiful Mixture!

March 27, 2011

Last week we were informed that one of our Senior/Grad images had been selected as one of only a handful of portraits to be displayed in a slideshow in the Kodak Times Square Marquee in New York City.  Trying to figure out how this actually happened we had to do a little research to understand it all.  So a call to Kodak was made and the details slowly made themselves clearer to us.

Out of 1000's of images submitted, TriCoast Photography is chosen by Kodak to be displayed in Times Square, New York

HOW THIS HAPPENED:

You see a while back Kodak ask all of the Professional Photographic labs in the United States to submit images which they felt would display well for their Marquee in Times Square New York City.  Of course 1000′s of images were submitted by these Professional Kodak labs from around the United States and in time a panel of judges from Kodak looked at all the images and narrowed them down to the “best of the best” in the United States.  Per Kodak, these images were selected for what Kodak wanted the people walking in Times Square to look up and see on their large Marquee and say “this is why you hire a professional photographer”  “this is what you should try and achieve if you want to be a professional photographer”  “this is what the best of the best of photography artists in the United States Produce”.   So after time Kodak selected the images from all styles of photography as well as all subject of photography (ie: Weddings, Seniors/Grads, Babies, Families, etc).  and the image submitted by TriCoast Lab was selected.

Once again TriCoast is very honored to be associated with Kodak, as in 2008 we were named their Kodak’s Photographers to Watch – making us one of the two best young studios in the Nation.  Today this new honor, while not to lighten the previous one which we are still very proud to have been awarded, brings us much more personal happiness because we could share this event, this happiness with the Senior and his family.  Telling the mother of our past senior brought her to tears, which in turn pretty much made us do the same thing.

THE PERSONAL AWARDS

You know we get into this business because we enjoy taking photographs, but sometimes along the way of trying to make a living we forget just how much joy and happiness we can bring by sharing our talents with others.  Events like this, remind us just how important being a Professional Photographer can be.  It reminded us why we love this art form so much, why we spend hours each week learning and pushing ourselves to be better than the day before, and why we give up a lot of personal time to make sure our images look the very best than can be for our clients.

Simply stated having Kodak select one of our images, one of our art pieces, one of our Seniors has been wonderful.  Sure to be able to say we are now one of the best Studios in the Nation when it comes to awards and popularity, but more importantly to be able to say we brought happiness and joy to our clients and memories which will last a life time for all of us involved.

So without anymore long winded mumbo jumbo (I know too late) We are so proud and humbled to announce and to put on display for the entire world to see.

So their you have it – all the details that I know of at this time.

* I am shocked we were awarded this honor

* I am shocked that of all the photographers which our lab has using their amazing products,  they choose a TriCoast image to submit.

* Roughly stated we are all very humbled by the gesture and level we have reached in photography.  To be known worldwide as one of the very best studios on many different levels, from educators to photographers to most importantly friends to so many.  Our only hope is that one day some how we can pay back others like so many who have helped us along the way.
